Sam Bradford set the record for touchdowns in a season when he won the Heisman Trophy in 2008 with Oklahoma. The Sooners quarterback threw for nearly 4500 yards with 48 passing touchdowns, and added five more touchdowns in goal-line situations on the ground. While Oklahoma went on to lose in the BCS championship game to Florida 24-14, Bradford steered the Sooners to a 12-1 regular season and the Big 12 title.
He is one of just nine Heisman winners to average a touchdown in under 10 plays, displaying a dynamic scoring prowess when he remained healthy. In the voting for the award, Bradford defeated Colt McCoy and Tim Tebow in one of the tightest three-way Heisman races in history. He stayed in Norman for his senior season in 2009, but was unable to challenge for a second straight Heisman after getting injured after just three games of his junior year.
