College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 12
By Zach Bigalke
Playing for little more than pride at this point of the season after Florida sealed up the SEC East title earlier on Saturday, Tennessee nevertheless trounced Missouri to move to 8-3. Joshua Dobbs had 223 passing yards and 190 rushing yards with five total touchdowns, while John Kelly added another 101 rushing yards and a score. The defense gave up nearly 750 yards of offense and 42 first downs to the Tigers, but they also forced four turnovers.
The win over Missouri will push Tennessee back into the Top 25, even though Florida’s win over LSU means that the Volunteers have no chance of playing for the SEC title this season. With the season finale against Vanderbilt all that’s left to play, Tennessee still has a decent chance of playing its way into one of the SEC’s New Year’s Six bowl slots. While in many ways 2016 will feel like a year of opportunity lost for Butch Jones and crew, they still have plenty to play for before the year is out.
