College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 12
By Zach Bigalke
Utah thought it had survived a challenge from Oregon on Saturday when Evan Moesi caught a 30-yard touchdown pass from Troy Williams with just over two minutes remaining. Then a Ducks team already shut out of the postseason for the first time in over a decade looked like their vintage high-octane selves, driving downfield to score the winning touchdown with two seconds remaining and securing the upset in a series that has been crazy in recent years.
After suffering their third conference loss to the Ducks, Kyle Whittingham’s team cost themselves any chance to play for the Pac-12 South. The Utes will fall down the AP Top 25 this week, and now they can play merely a spoiler role when they take on Colorado on the Saturday after Thanksgiving. As a result Utah has no chance at landing a College Football Playoff spot, and even a New Year’s Six appearance is now in jeopardy after taking such a costly loss at home.
