College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 12
By Zach Bigalke
Maryland managed just 11 total rushing yards and nine first downs against the Cornhuskers defense on Saturday, and other than a 92-yard touchdown pass from Max Bortenschlager to D.J. Moore the Terrapins managed just 2.1 yards per play the rest of the time on offense. Terrell Newby rushed for 98 yards and three scores, while senior quarterback Ryker Fyfe threw for 220 yards and a touchdown. Controlling the ball for 39 minutes, Nebraska never gave the Terps a chance on Senior Day in Lincoln.
The Cornhuskers still need help to reach the Big Ten championship out of the West. Nebraska has to win next Friday against Iowa and hope that Minnesota takes down Wisconsin the following day to play in Indianapolis. Even if they don’t make it to the title game, Mike Riley’s team is staring at becoming the first Nebraska team to reach 10 wins since 2012 under Bo Pelini. A New Year’s Six game could be in play if they reach that threshold, given the Big Ten’s relative strength this season.
