Well its the ACC vs. SEC this week for the Georgia Bulldogs and Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. While the Bulldogs own the advantage in the overall series, the Yellow Jackets are no slouch.
Georgia is 7-4 this season in head coach Kirby Smart’s first season. They have won three games in a row since losing two straight SEC games to Vanderbilt and Florida. They upset ninth-ranked Auburn a few weeks ago 13-7 to close out their conference schedule.
Running back Nick Chubb has had a decent season with 900 rushing yards and six touchdowns but injuries have slowed his progress. Freshman back Brian Herrien has emerged as a formidable rusher next to fellow back Sony Michel in Chubb’s absence. Herrien has 362 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the year.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are 7-4 on the season. The Yellow Jackets upset the Virginia Tech Hokies on the road 30-20 and won their last home game of the season 31-17 over the Virginia Cavaliers. They’ve won four of their last five games behind their Triple Option Attack.
Georgia Tech averages 256.6 rushing yards per game as a team this season. Quarterback Justin Thomas has 1,330 passing yards, 552 rushing yards, eight passing touchdowns, and five rushing touchdowns to lead the way on offense.
Running backs Marcus Marshall and Dedrick Mills have both rushed for over 500 rushing yards each on the year. Mills leads the team in rushing yards with 578 yards. Marshall is close behind with 569 rushing yards.
The Yellow Jackets will use a plethora of running options to look to upset the Bulldogs at home. They haven’t beaten Georgia since 2014 when they won 30-24.
