With the Louisville Cardinals trying to avoid an upset against the Kentucky Wildcats on Saturday, all kinds of madness led to a devastating loss.

The Louisville Cardinals came into Saturday’s game against the Kentucky Wildcats expecting to close out the regular season with a blowout win. Instead, the Wildcats came to play and put the Cardinals on upset alert.

Heading into the fourth quarter on Saturday, the Cardinals had struggled mightily on defense, having few answers for Kentucky’s offense. Late in the fourth quarter, the Wildcats had scored 38 points with over 500 yards of total offense.

However, it was the defense that came up with a crucial game-changing play after Lamar Jackson was able to tie the game up at 38-38. Defensive tackle Chris Williams was able to stand Kentucky running back Benny Snell Jr. up before stripping the ball out of his hands for a huge turnover.

You can watch the video of the impressive play from Williams below.

Louisville’s offense was able to start driving down the field with ease on the ensuing drive. Unfortunately, Heisman Trophy frontrunner Lamar Jackson wound up fumbling the ball away in the red zone go give the Wildcats the ball back with a chance to win.

The Wildcats were then able to drive down the field to set up an opportunity for a game-winning field goal. Kentucky’s Austin MacGinnis was able to drill the 47-yard attempt for the win.

After hopes of making the College Football Playoff, Louisville finished the season with back-to-back losses to Houston and Kentucky. It may be a devastating loss for the Cardinals, but the Wildcats will be going home in a great mood after finishing the year with a 7-5 record.
