College Football Rankings 2016: Projected AP Top 25 after Week 13
By Zach Bigalke
Temple will be playing for the AAC championship after a 37-10 walkover at home over East Carolina. Jahad Thomas ran for 152 yards and two touchdowns to pace the Owls to victory, while the Temple defense held the Pirates to just 225 total yards of offense. The AAC East champions stayed ahead of hard-charging South Florida by winning their sixth straight game to close out the regular season.
As a result, Matt Rhule’s team should manage to sneak into the penultimate AP Top 25 before the postseason. They will be underdogs against Navy in the championship game next weekend, but if Temple manage to knock off the Midshipmen it would shore up their second straight season with 10 or more victories. Even were they to pull off the upset, though, the Owls are probably too far behind in the race for the Group of Five’s automatic access into a New Year’s Six game.
