Some craziness occurred in the first quarter of the SEC Championship game between the Alabama Crimson Tide and Florida Gators on Saturday.

Even though the Alabama Crimson Tide have been far and away the best team in college football this season, the Florida Gators were hoping to pull off the upset on Saturday during the SEC Championship.

Although the Gators were able to take an early 7-0 lead on their opening drive, the offense simply couldn’t help them preserve that lead. Despite Alabama’s offense struggling, a miscue from Gators quarterback Austin Appleby resulted in a pick six.

A few minutes later, the Gators were forced to punt from deep inside their own territory. Alabama’s Derrick Gore was able to get a hand on the punt to block it, then his teammate Joshua Jacobs was able to grab the ball and take it back for a touchdown. You can watch a video of the play below.

However, the craziness wasn’t over quite yet.

On the ensuing extra point attempt, Florida was able to get a hand on the attempt and block it. David Reese was able to scoop the ball up and took off. Thanks to some solid blocking from his teammates, Reese was able to return it all the way for two points.

That return from Florida helped them cut the lead to 16-9, but going against Alabama’s elite defense, scoring seven points is easier said than done. Even if Alabama goes down to Florida in the SEC Championship, we should still expect to see the one-less behemoth playing in the College Football Playoff.
