College Football Playoff Top 25 Projections after Championship Weekend
By Zach Bigalke
After watching Western Michigan hold on for the MAC championship on Friday night, the Midshipmen knew that they were locked into the Armed Forces Bowl regardless of what happened on Saturday. The WMU win seemed to remove Navy’s interest rather than relieve their pressure, as the Midshipmen lost big on their home field to Temple in the AAC championship game. Losing quarterback Will Worth to an ankle injury in the second quarter hurt Navy’s chances, but they were already down 21-0 by the point Worth exited the game.
So the Midshipmen will now prepare for their pre-Christmas bowl game in Fort Worth. After the blowout loss to Temple, Navy now has to pick itself up its annual rivalry game against Army. They still have a shot to reach 11 wins if they can beat the Black Knights and win their postseason showdown in Fort Worth. But it will feel like an opportunity lost in Annapolis after overtaking Houston for the AAC West.
PROJECTED BOWL DESTINATION: Armed Forces Bowl (December 23)
