Video of Oklahoma Sooners running back Joe Mixon punching a woman in the face has officially been released to the public.

We have known for some time that Oklahoma Sooners running back Joe Mixon had been engaged in a violent altercation with a female student back in 2014. However, video of the incident has finally been released, and the footage is as disturbing as was feared.

The Oklahoma Association or Broadcasters had previously sued for the video to be made public, and earlier this month the state’s Supreme Court had ruled that the city of Norman was required to release the video before December 26th.

On Friday, Mixon’s attorneys released the video with the following statement saying that the running back had requested that the video be released earlier.

“Mr. Mixon asked us to once again say he is sorry for the way he reacted that night. He has apologized publicly to Ms. Molitor, her friends, his family, teammates and the University,” his attorney, Blake Johnson wrote in a letter according to Nolan Clay from The Oklahoman. “He hopes that his voluntary release of these recordings will help put this matter to rest.”

You can watch the video of the 2014 assault at Pickleman’s Gourmet Cafe below (WARNING: This video shows graphic violence).

The student, Amelia Molitor, suffered a fractured jaw as well as a fractured cheek bone, sinus and orbital bone, according to Patrick Prince from Tulsa World.

Mixon was suspended for the entire 2014 season, but is still expected to play in the Sugar Bowl against the Auburn Tigers on January 2nd. The Sooners running back may also be heading to the NFL draft after this season, with many wondering whether or not NFL teams will draft him considering the content of this video.

There’s no denying that Mixon is a talented running back, but there are bound to be plenty of NFL teams who will shy away from him.
