With bowl games already upon us, we’ll get a look at some of the breakout players in college football for 2017.

With the season is almost over, bowl games will begin to showcase what teams will be returning to the football field next year. While transfers will still have to wait until spring, some backup players will have an opportunity to showcase what fans will have to look forward to next season.

Overall, there were quite a few underclassmen who put on performances that instantly put them in the breakout player category. The breakout players are expected to have prime seasons that put them square in the middle of the “best player in college football” talk.

LSU running back Leonard Fournette is out for the Citrus Bowl against Louisville on December 31. His backup will have an opportunity to show what he can do in the Citrus Bowl as well next season. The pressure for the receiving corps to improve lies on one receiver with Louisville quarterback Lamar Jackson winning the Heisman this past season.

With former Houston head coach Tom Herman heading to Texas, their starting quarterback is one name on the list of breakout players to watch out for. The Oregon Duck’s fall from the AP Top 25 could be short-lived, especially given what they’re left with at quarterback.

Next season brings a lot of promise, so here are next season’s breakout players for 2017.
