2017 Senior Bowl: 10 NFL Draft Prospects to Watch
By Tyler Brooke
Everyone loves a story about a former walk-on trying to make it to the NFL. That’s exactly what Temple Owls star defensive player Haason Reddick is trying to do, and he has an opportunity to help his draft stock in a big way during Senior Bowl week.
As a defensive end and edge rusher for the Owls this season, Reddick was a force to be reckoned with. In 14 games, Reddick was able to rack up 22.5 tackles for loss, 10.5 sacks and three forced fumbles.
There’s no consensus as to what position Reddick will play at the next level. He’s too small for a true NFL defensive end at 6-foot-1 and 237 pounds, but he’s being considered as either an edge rusher or even an inside linebacker at the next level.
Scouts will love Reddick because of his relentlessness and high motor, which makes him extremely disruptive in the backfield. He’s extremely athletic and instinctive which gives scouts hope that he can make the switch to linebacker at the next level.
This will be a huge week for Reddick to prove that he can move to linebacker and not miss a beat while playing against the some elite competition. If he can do that, then Reddick could wind up being an early Day 3 pick with some genuinely high upside.
