This tight end class has the potential to be one of the best ever. Players like O.J. Howard, Jake Butt, David Njoku, Bucky Hodges and Evan Engram have all been getting a ton of attention in draft circles, but one tight end who has a chance to stand out in this group is South Alabama’s Gerald Everett.

Everett doesn’t come from a top-tier program, instead coming out of the Sun Belt’s South Alabama. He still made plenty of plays for the Jaguars, however, catching 49 passes for 717 yards and four touchdowns.

The South Alabama prospect is an impressive athlete who does a great job of creating separation thanks to his speed and athleticism. Everett took a little bit of a knock for his small hands during weigh-ins at the Senior Bowl on Tuesday, but showed that he can still make some impressive catches during practice later that day.

Everett is still a very raw prospect. He runs some sloppy routes and isn’t the most dedicated tight end when it comes to blocking. However, it looks like Everett could come in as a rookie and immediately make an impact as a pass-catching tight end.

Scouts at the Senior Bowl will be watching Everett closely to see if he can stand out enough to be taken before the likes of Engram and Hodges in the NFL draft come April.
