There are certain players every year who draw wildly different opinions from draft scouts everywhere. In 2017, one of those guys is Auburn Tigers defensive tackle Montravius Adams. I’m not as high on him personally, but there are others who are convinced that Adams will be a first-round pick.

Adams was an intimidating force in the middle of the defensive line for the Tigers the past few seasons. This year, Adams was able to rack up 8.5 tackles for loss, 4.5 sacks and 15 quarterback hurries in 13 games.

The Auburn prospect comes in at 6’3” and 308 pounds with a thick, powerful base that allows him to drive offensive linemen back. Unfortunately, he’s not always capable of doing that, appearing gassed pretty frequently throughout games.

When Adams is at his best, he does a great job of getting off of the snap and plugging up rushing lanes. At the same time Adams also has a problem with keeping his pad level low and he’s continuing to try and develop his technique.

Personally, I think that Adams is still too raw to be worth a first-round pick, but there is definitely upside there that the Auburn prospect will have the opportunity to showcase this week at the Senior Bowl.
