With National Signing Day approaching, here are five college football programs who are in need of a big finish.

National Signing Day is almost here and those following recruiting very closely treat it as almost a second Christmas. The nation’s top uncommitted talent will be taking to TV and/or Twitter to reveal which college they will play for and there’s bound to be some heartbreak and frustration involved.

If you have followed recruiting over the past few years, you would already know that this aspect of college football has absolutely blown up. No longer as kids just committing and calling it a day, but their moment in the spotlight sometimes involves cameras, recruitment videos and live streams.

Alabama has dominated the recruiting trail since Nick Saban has been in town and you shouldn’t expect that to change much in 2017. He currently has the No. 1 ranked class in the country, according to 247Sports, with Ohio State right behind. Urban Meyer’s class actually has the highest average star rating.

While those two programs have been dominating the recruiting circuit, programs like Florida State, Georgia and Michigan are all close behind. There are some program who could get big bumps if they finish strong on signing day, though.

Which five programs could use a big finish to their 2017 classes on National Signing Day? This isn’t to say they’re in trouble or don’t have enough solid players in the class, but based on recruiting ranks and low commit numbers or even big names still left on the board, these five programs could use a nice finish.

Note: All class and player rankings come from 247Sports’ recruiting database.
