College Football Weekly News Bites: Late-March edition
We are now headed into the final stretch of March, but college football’s spring games are right around the corner.
As we slide into the spring exhibition games, we get a chance to see what our favorite teams might bring to the table come fall. We also get to see how idiotic people can be during the offseason.
Hey, at least he owned it. If you haven’t been keeping up, Oklahoma quarterback Baker Mayfield was arrested a few weeks ago with a drunk and disorderly charge. Baker Mayfield not only admitted to being a dummy, he seems to genuinely regret it. He issued a heartfelt, albeit lengthy, apology on Twitter. I’ve got to respect him for it, but now I can’t make fun of him anymore, dadgumit.
Here is the tweet:
I can’t say the same for Baylor, unfortunately. Baylor representatives have been playing the denial card ever since sexual misconduct charges started coming down the pike. It worked for a while, but now a mess of former players have been arrested on sexual assault charges, including LB Myke Chatman and TE Tre’Von Armstead. Sam Ukwuachu’s sexual assault charges were overturned in court last Wednesday. I’ll keep churning out the sordid news from Baylor as reports keep coming in. Zoicks. It could get ugly at Baylor.
Brandon Harris has left Louisiana State for greener pastures. Well, Carolina blue pastures, actually. Former LSU quarterback Brandon Harris got tired of sitting on the sidelines, so he has transferred to North Carolina for his final season. He had a rough 2016 with the Tigers, but the ACC might be more forgiving. Heck, he won’t even have to face Alabama in the regular season. He will graduate in the summer, so he won’t even have to wait a year for eligibility; he can play immediately as a graduate transfer. Good luck to you, Brandon.
