15. Can the Washington Huskies repeat as Pac-12 Champions?

The Washington Huskies had a historic season in 2016. The Huskies won the Pac-12 Championship and made the College Football Playoff field, but can they duplicate that success in 2017?

They lost to the Alabama Crimson Tide 24-7 in the Peach Bowl, but they have a good opportunity to return to this year’s playoff field.

They return quarterback Jake Browning and running back Myles Gaskin but they will need the defense keep pace like last season.

Browning threw for 43 touchdowns and just nine interceptions last season, but replacing wide receiver John Ross will be tough. One receiver to keep an eye on is Dante Pettis. Pettis finished 2016 with 822 receiving yards and 15 receiving touchdowns.

The Huskies will have some holes to replace on defense. Despite returning six starters, they lose safety Budda Baker and cornerback Sidney Jones in the secondary.

Luckily for the Huskies they return 2016 Pac-12 Freshman Defensive Player of the Year Tyler Rapp. He led the Huskies secondary last season with four interceptions.

Not to mention, the Huskies have the USC Trojans hot on their heels. USC beat the Huskies 26-13 on Nov. 12. The two teams don’t meet in the regular season in 2017 but could meet in the Pac-12 Championship game.
