With a win in the Apple Cup, the Huskies broke a painful bowl drought dating back to 2002. Washington running back Chris Polk carried the heavy lifting for Washington with a career-best 284 yards rushing and two touchdowns.

Cougars quarterback Jeff Tuel had an outstanding game for the Cougars, throwing for 298 yards and three touchdowns. Washington State rallied to tie the game after trailing 28-14 near the beginning of the fourth quarter.

However, Jake Locker scored three touchdowns, two passing and one rushing to ultimately lead the Huskies to the win. He threw a 27-yard fade pass to Jermaine Kearse for a touchdown with just 44 seconds remaining in the game. Locker completed a 66-yard touchdown pass to Kearse at the start of the fourth quarter.

Tuel’s last desperation throw was intercepted by Washington safety Nate Fellner. Fans at Martin Stadium threw snowballs on to the field in protest.
