There are several ways that coaches become hated in college football. When a coach turns a team into a consistent contender, that inevitably generates hatred among opposing fans. A gruff demeanor, mistreatment of players, general disinterest in a school’s traditions, or any number of things can also create ill will between coaches and their own fans.

Not every coach is hated. Some, such as Kansas State’s Bill Snyder, remain beloved around college football.
