With the departure of All-American running back D’Onta Foreman, a lot of the offensive burden falls directly on junior running back Chris Warren III. Due to injury, Warren III saw limited action in 2016. He played in only four games before missing out on the rest of the season and ultimately applying for a medical redshirt, according to thescore.com.

Warren III was not granted a medical redshirt for the 2016 season, so he enters 2017 as a junior with only 12 career games played. Considering he has rushed for less than 900 yards and eight touchdowns in his career, Warren III needs to prove his worth big time in 2017.

Sophomore Kyle Porter is waiting in the wings to prove himself behind Warren III in Texas’ stable of running backs. Options are largely limited for Herman, though, because of the lack of experience among Texas running backs. If Warren III does not pan out this year, the Horns better hope that one of their sophomore or freshman running backs steps up in a big way.
