Wide Receiver/Tight End

Starting receivers: A.J. Brown, D.K. Metcalf, Van Jefferson/Dawson Knox
Backups: DaMarkus Lodge, Markell Pack, Tre Nixon/Octavious Cooley

This is without a doubt the deepest and most talented part of the Ole Miss roster. These players are part of the reason Ole Miss will have a chance to win every game they play in 2017, despite what national media thinks simply because of the NCAA, I digress.

More from Ole Miss Rebels

A.J. Brown and D.K. Metcalf will be a one to punch on the outside for the Rebels. Brown is 6-foot-1 and Metcalf is 6-foot-4. Both are terrific with the ball in the air and just have talent that cannot be taught.

Metcalf had two touchdowns in two game last season. He would have had more but suffered a foot injury that kept him out the rest of the season. Metcalf was able to still be redshirted as well. Van Jefferson is a speedy slot type with terrific hands. His route running is perfect and he’s able to take the top off the defense.

To consider DaMarkus Lodge, Markell Pack and Tre Nixon backups is silly. They’re essentially co-startes because on any other team they would be the starters. That is how deep this group is. Lodge was the number one receiver out of high school, he’ll make an impact. Pack is a fast dependable receiver, typically outside but inside as well. Tre Nixon has super speed, he’s fast and he’ll see the field at times, although expect to see him more in the punt return game.

Expect Dawson Know and Octavious Cooley to be in the running for the starting tight end job left open by departed senior Evan Engram. As of now, Knox looks to be the favorite.
