Star running back Isaiah Wright of ‘Last Chance U’ Season 2 deserves a shot at the Division 1 level, and here’s why.
If you’ve watched Season 2 of the Netflix hit documentary series ‘Last Chance U’, you’d know the name Isaiah Wright. The talented running back for East Mississippi C.C. was a polarizing character in the second season and was a popular figure for fans of the show.
Unfortunately, he ended up getting injured multiple times during his sophomore season with the team and that caused him to miss significant time and lose scholarships. He even held a scholarship to Auburn, where former teammate John Franklin III went, but the Tigers seemingly made the offer uncommittable after he missed time.
Moreover, his relationship with head coach Buddy Stephens deteriorated and that led to the two butting heads often and getting into heated locker room arguments.
Through all of this, he ended up at West Georgia for the 2017 season, but the soon-to-be junior deserves a shot at the FBS Division 1 level, and here’s why.
5. Remaining eligibility
One of the only guys to appear on both seasons of ‘Last Chance U’ brings up the question of remaining eligibility. Well, he played his freshman and sophomore seasons for East Mississippi C.C. before transferring to West Georgia for the 2017 season.
If he plays one season as West Georgia and impresses like everyone knows he’s capable of, he’d still have one year of eligibility remaining at the college level and it’d be a shame to see it wasted anywhere else but the FBS level.
For teams looking at him and thinking he’s a risk, they must understand that he’d basically be a one-year rental as he would be entering his final season of eligibility. Basically, if a program were to take a chance on him and he didn’t pan out, he’s in his final year anyways. Low risk, high reward.
