ESPN College GameDay has announced its Week 1 destination will be Atlanta, Ga., for Florida State vs. Alabama.

There’s going to be a classic showdown in Week 1 between Florida State and Alabama and it could go a long way in deciding who eventually makes it to the 2017 College Football Playoff.

Jimbo Fisher will square off against Nick Saban and both have impressive resumes. Each has a national title and multiple conference crowns and they’re aiming to settle the offseason debate of which conference reigns supreme.

Saban stated that Florida State is like an SEC team while Fisher responded with “the ACC is the nation’s premier conference.” This surely will be an epic battle.

The game will be the matchup to watch on Sept. 2 as Week 1 kicks off the regular season. Moreover, ESPN College GameDay will be on hand for the contest in Atlanta, Ga., it announced officially on Wednesday.

It’s not going to be on either school’s campus, which is a different scenario, but rather at a neutral site between two of college football’s top-five teams. This wasn’t a surprising choice, though, by any means. Everyone kind of expected GameDay to pick this as the Week 1 destination.

Lee Corso will make his first headgear pick between the mighty Crimson Tide and a preseason favorite pick to win it all, Florida State.

There’s so much to look forward to at the start of the season and this has to be the No. 1 game on everyone’s radar. Will the Seminoles live up to the hype or will Alabama continue to do what it does best and crush non-conference foes?
