Week 8: Louisville at Florida State

Honorable Mention:

  • Tennessee at Alabama
  • Michigan at Penn State
  • USC at Notre Dame

The likelihood that both Louisville and Florida State get repeat occurrences this year with College GameDay is extremely high.

Last year, College GameDay visited Tallahassee in week three when Louisville marched in to play the No. 2 ranked Florida State Seminoles. While the point of the show is to attend the nation’s most intriguing matchups and likelihood for most exiting game, there was no way they could have predicted what happened then.

Louisville’s Lamar Jackson point the college football universe on notice that game, backing up his incredible stats from his first two games of the year, but this time against one of the nation’s best teams. He ran all over the Seminoles, propelling them to a 63-20 victory and ending up with 216 passing yards, 146 rushing yards, and five total touchdowns. The crowd already began yelling “Heisman” chants towards him, and they ended up being dead right on that analysis.

But, like we keep saying, it’s a new year, and both of these teams will have another opportunity to take over Clemson as the top dog in the ACC. While both teams already have an earlier meeting with the Tigers, this late season showdown will be the telling point on who is contending for a conference championship and beyond. As you may know, Florida State, Clemson and Louisville are all in the same division in the ACC.

All three meetings between these two teams since Louisville joined the ACC have been decided by double digits, with Florida State winning the first two contests before the Cardinals beat down the Seminoles last year in Louisville.
