College football is almost here. The popular ESPN show College Gameday will make a special appearance in Week 1 in Bloomington, Indiana.

Just one day after learning the official week one destination for the ESPN Saturday classic, College Gameday, it was announced that there would be a bonus program taking place the Thursday prior to the first Saturday of the year.

Normally, the college football season kicks off on the Thursday before Labor Day. The majority of the games take place two days later on the following Saturday. College Gameday will then usually pick the best opening weekend game on that Saturday to host their show at.

This year, the crew announced they will be heading to Atlanta for No. 1 Alabama and No. 3 Florida State (Coaches Poll) for a neutral site clash between heavyweight teams. Usually that would be the end of the College Gameday chatter until the event itself, but just recently announced was that the show would be heading to Bloomington two days before the Atlanta matchup.

The Gameday crew will be live inside Memorial Stadium at the home of the Indiana Hoosiers from 6pm – 8pm ET, right before the Ohio State Buckeyes and Hoosiers take part in “Opening Day” of the college football season.

Back in June, the Buckeyes opened up as 21-point favorites in their opener against Indiana, but Thursday’s slate of games only features one game with two power-five teams squaring off, and it’s this one. This is a treat for the Hoosiers who likely won’t get another shot at hosting the event for a good while.

Indiana and Ohio State are scheduled for a 8 ET kickoff, so fans will get to enjoy this night time special of College Gameday before viewing the day’s most intriguing matchup and a very rare August Big Ten clash.
