Snub: Colorado not ranked

Continuing with the PAC-12 theme, Colorado head coach Mike MacIntyre got snubbed big time from a spot in the top 25. Colorado did finish just outside the top 25 with 72 votes, good for no. 27 in the rankings. A few week one upsets and a Buffs victory could put them inside the top 25 soon.

The uncertainty around first-year starting quarterback Steven Montez, taking over for Sefo Liufau, could be a big reason why voters were not confident in putting the Buffs in the top 25. Colorado did also finish the 2016 campaign in a bad fashion. They were walloped by Washington in the PAC-12 Championship and the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the Alamo Bowl.

All bad reasons aside, Colorado deserves a spot in the top 25 and that should be seen soon enough. They still have the talent with guys like running back Phillip Lindsay and receiver Shay Fields. The PAC-12 South will be a hard-fought division, though, with the USC Trojans stepping their game up to end the 2016 campaign.
