3. Difficult schedule
The Big 12 might be the easiest Power Five conference to play in, but that does not look like the case in 2017. The Oklahoma Sooners, Oklahoma State Cowboys, Kansas State Wildcats, TCU Horned Frogs, Baylor Bears and West Virginia Mountaineers, could all possibly be favorites against the Horns this season.
Not to mention the fact that Texas has to travel to Los Angeles to face the No. 4 team in the country, the USC Trojans. USC quarterback Sam Darnold could put up big numbers against a Texas defense that will not have faced that tough of test up to that point in the 2017 season.

The good news, if any, is that Texas get Oklahoma State, Kansas State, and Texas Tech at home. However, USC, Iowa State, Baylor, TCU, and West Virginia, all come on the road.
