Expectations continue to rise for Miami football in 2017. The Hurricanes need to win in 2017, but why not do it in some crisp, new uniforms?

The college football uniform landscape changed forever when Chip Kelly’s Oregon teams of the partnered up with Nike. There are some schools that have held out for one reason or another, be it tradition or conservativeness. Those that have ventured into the alternative uniform space haven’t been disappointed. That’s the case for the Hurricanes, who released two new uniform combinations for the upcoming season.

Pictured above, the two uniform combinations look slick. The black unis with green and orange trim have been dubbed “Miami Nights”. They’ll be complimented with black helmets, black socks and cleats with orange accents. The Hurricanes will reserved this new look for their nationally televised game on October 12 against Georgia Tech at Hard Rock Stadium.

But that’s not all. Adidas doubled down on the new looks, creating a more traditional green uniform as well. They’ve nicknamed that look “State of Miami”. It more closely resembles the Hurricane looks of recent history with white and orange striped accents and matching numbers on the back. They’ll be paired with white helmets, white socks and matching cleats. Miami will where these at home on September 23 against Toledo.

At the end of the day they’re just uniforms. They don’t have any special magic in them that will give Miami an edge in either contest. Yet there is something to be sad about looking good when you step on the field. Plus, it never hurts to show recruits that you’ve got the hookups with some major clothing and design companies. You look good Miami, now it’s time to make good on the football field.
