Athletic defensive end Tim Bonner joined fellow EMCC player De’Andre Johnson in committing to Florida Atlantic with now head coach and former Alabama offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin. Bonner took a while to find his groove with EMCC in 2016, but it seemed like everyone on the roster and coaching staff believed in him and was rooting for him the entire way.

The former Louisville defensive end should get some playing time behind redshirt seniors Haiden Nagel and Nick Internicola. However, the fate of the FAU defense may not be good with Kiffin as the head coach. Kiffin is largely and offensive minded coach and has rarely found success in positively changing a defense.

There’s little doubt to the personality and energy that Bonner could bring to the FAU locker room. He brought a brightness and energy to the show that seemed infectious to everyone around him. Bonner and Johnson even met up with academic adviser Brittany Wagner recently, according to Bonner’s Twitter.

It’s great to see Johnson and Bonner preparing to play at a high level with a potent Group of Five team. Even though Bonner was once in a better situation with the Louisville Cardinals, he should be a better and stronger player now with FAU.
