Georgia Tech Football: 2017 season preview, predictions
Offense
The Georgia Yellow Jackets offense took some strides in the opposite direction in 2016. They put up just 28.2 points per game (70th in the FBS) last season with quarterback Justin Thomas under center.
The team rushed for just 258.1 rushing yards per game last season, the second-lowest total in the Paul Johnson era. In 2014, the rushing offense was producing at 342.1 rushing yards per game. During the 2015 season, that figure dropped to 256.7 rushing yards per game. As the rushing yards have dropped, so have the wins in conference.

The Yellow Jackets went 6-2 in conference during the 2014 season. In 2015, they went 1-7 and last season they went 4-4. The Triple Option has worked with the right players. It will be interesting to see if Jordan can return the offense back to the top.
The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets return one of their top two running backs from their Triple Option. He’ll need to step up and improve their production. Running back Dedrick Mills (771 rushing yards, 12 touchdowns) will need to get closer to 900 rushing yards for this offense to really excel.
Clinton Lynch is another back to watch out of the option. He ran for 11.2 yards per carry last season. With running back Marcus Marshall off to James Madison, Lynch should be ready to step in and make big plays on offense.
Georgia Tech had a young offensive line in 2016. Now that they have some experience under belt, things should improve on offense this upcoming season.
