Louisville Cardinals

2006 impact player: Elvis Dumervil, RE #58, 92 overall
Today: QB Lamar Jackson, CB Jaire Alexander

Louisville’s 2006 season saw Elvis Dumervil as the main man on campus. With Elvis came Brian Brohm the prolific QB and Michael Bush. Brohm threw for 10,000 yards and 90-plus touchdowns, while Bush, the hefty running back, ran for 1,000 yards and 23 scores in 2005 but was then injured and wound up with a mediocre career in the NFL.

It’s hard to argue against Heisman Trophy incumbent Lamar Jackson as an impact player. Jackson was the Cards offense in 2016. Combined passing and rushing yardage broke 5,000 and he added 51 touchdowns to those numbers. Jackson returns and he would be the impact player in NCAA, easily assuming he’s a 99 overall.

Cornerback Jaire Alexander is on the preseason All-ACC lists after 39 tackles and five interceptions in 2016. Alexander is only a junior and looks to be a shutdown corner on his side of the field.
