It was the conference championship game everyone expected to see each of the past two years. Instead, Air Force upset the Broncos to nab the MWC Mountain spot two years ago. Wyoming did much the same in 2016. The third time will be a charm as Boise State manages to stay ahead of Colorado State and the rest of the division.

After losing at home earlier in the season to the Broncos, the two-time defending league champs will be forced to play their title defense on the road. They will also do so without star running back Donnel Pumphrey, who by this point will be well into his rookie season with the Philadelphia Eagles.

When they met two months earlier, Boise State prevailed by a tight scoreline. At home, things won’t be nearly as close this time around.

Final: Boise State 41, San Diego State 24 (11-2)

Boise State will get off to a perfect start, scoring on their opening drive and then forcing a fumble from Rashaad Penny to jump to a quick two-touchdown lead. San Diego State will claw its way back into the contest, pulling back within single digits at several points. But now that they are actually in another MWC championship game, Bryan Harsin’s crew will not let the opportunity slip.
