Florida football coach Jim McElwain said during a recent pep rally that the Gators are going to “beat the heck out of” Michigan.

The Florida Gators are oozing confidence. Besides considering themselves true contenders in the SEC, as they should, they are also predicting wins against ranked opponents.

In fact, Florida coach Jim McElwain was quoted recently while talking to fans, stating that the Gators were going to “beat the heck out of” Michigan.

The Gators play the Wolverines on Sept. 2 in Arlington, Texas.

According to MLive, McElwain was speaking to fans at a recent pep rally which was broadcast live on Periscope and, in good fun, predicted a win against Michigan.

"“We’re headed to Dallas here in a couple weeks to go beat the heck out of Michigan,” McElwain said in a speech broadcast live on Periscope. “And then come back to you guys.”"

Does McElwain truly believe his Gators will “beat the heck out of Michigan”? Probably not, but what is he supposed to say to fans? “We’re going to try our best and have fun.”

Nope.

Yes, McElwain believes his team is superior this season, but every coach thinks their team is better than opponents. That’s just called confidence. Plus, this was a pep rally and anything said at these things should be taken with a grain of salt.

Gators fans have to love this confidence although they realize they will be without a half-dozen players, including star receiver Antonio Callaway, for the opener.
