Roberts, like Dingle, was a former Miami commit before switching to USF the summer before the 2016 season. He attracted interest from a number of Power Five schools, receiving offers from Florida, Penn State, South Carolina and UCLA, among others, but the Oakleaf High product stuck with the Bulls even after Taggart’s departure.

While he hasn’t quite broken through to the first team during fall camp, he’s still a candidate to see playing time behind the likes of Nichols, Hoggins, and Culpepper. Roberts is a short, scrappy corner who plays bigger than his size, and has already seen significant action against second and third-string receivers in recent scrimmages.

Will that be enough for Strong to elect to have the young corner forgo a redshirt year? He’s likely on the outside looking in right now, but that could change with an impressive last week of practice. At any rate, he’s another promising piece in a loaded secondary class for the Bulls.\
