Growing up in SEC territory, it seemed as if Aubrey Solomon was destined to play for a school like Alabama or Georgia. However, when Jim Harbaugh and Michigan came a-calling, he decided to pack his bags and head north.

It was a shock to some when he picked the Wolverines over the likes of Alabama, Georgia, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State and Ole Miss, but he believed it was time for a change. The Leesburg, Ga., native decided to go where he believed he had the best chance to succeed, and that was Michigan.

Now, the former five-star defensive tackle has an opportunity to crack the two-deep rotation in the trenches with Bryan Mone and Maurice Hurst leading the way. He’s almost guaranteed to play extensively in 2017, and rooming with Rashan Gary is the best-case scenario for the young star.

Solomon stands 6-foot-3 and weighs in at 290 pounds. He gets to learn the ropes from one of the nation’s top defensive linemen as his roommate and that will pay dividends in 2017. Expect this kid to make serious waves in the Big Ten.
