There’s adulation surrounding the potential of the Texas football program in 2017. Improvement is expected. Here are three games they’re guaranteed to win.

Figuring out the Texas Longhorns 2017 squad and projections is a tough job for even the smartest college football experts. There’s a few teams that the Horns have taken care of for the last few seasons without a problem.

Yet, even the Kansas Jayhawks upended Texas last year. Iowa State has also been a problem of late. First-year head coach Tom Herman hopes to turn that around. Kansas and Iowa State are the notoriously two worst teams in the Big 12 and you have to beat them.

The best team that Texas beat the last two years in a row is the Baylor Bears. With all the scandal and recovery happening with Baylor right now, Texas should be significantly favored in that matchup.

What does the 2017 schedule look like?

Texas carries a No. 23 ranking into the 2017 season. They’re the only team ranked inside the top 25 that finished with a losing record in 2016. However, the Herman hype has caught up with the media. And there is hype for a good reason. Herman was the most sought after head coaching hire for Power Five programs last year.

The non-conference slate will not be easy for the Horns to clear. The toughest opponent is the No. 4 USC Trojans. Both Maryland and San Jose State could be tough outs as well. Any Power Five opponent has been an issue for Texas of late. San Jose State should not be as big of a problem.

Big 12 competition could be more tightly contested than in year’s past. Once again, the Oklahoma schools are projected to finish at the top of the conference standings. Texas, Kansas State, West Virginia and TCU could all be competitive as well.

Now, let’s take a look at 3 games the Texas Longhorns are guaranteed to win in 2017.
