Alabama football may have one of the best quarterbacks in the nation for 2017, and here’s why Jalen Hurts will win the Heisman Trophy.
Alabama football will face Florida State on Saturday and many expect the Crimson Tide to win the SEC and make College Football Playoff for the third year in a row. A win against the Seminoles would be a great way to start the season, but a loss wouldn’t be the end of the world for a team with this pedigree.
Sophomore quarterback Jalen Hurts will have huge expectations starting with the first game of the season and the masses expect Hurts to deliver.
I’m here to give you five reasons why the Alabama star will be the first quarterback in the history of the program to bring home the prestigious award.
5. Clear-cut starter
Heading into the 2016 season, Blake Barnett was the starter for Week 1, but now he will finish his career at Arizona State — or so we think. Barnett, a four-star freshman at the time, was thought to be a major figure in the quarterback spot for years to come, but the emergence of Jalen Hurts essentially forced Blake transfer to Arizona State after the first quarter of last season.
Besides Barnett leaving, David Cornwell and Cooper Bateman decided to leave because of the play of Hurts. The only bad thing for the team is if Hurts gets hurt (no pun intended) a lot of inexperienced guys are left.
There is no doubt who the man is in Alabama.
