The 2017 college football season is upon us and the time for talk is over. Who is going to meet expectations and actually win some games this year?

College football is less than a week away from kick off and teams are now preparing to take the field for Week 1 action. The stigma of hype and expectations for some of the teams ranked in the top 25 in the Amway Coaches Poll is strong. We’ll see which teams live up to the hype and which ones get exposed soon.

It’s one of the best times of the year in sports, with college football and the NFL starting their regular seasons within the month. Football fans everywhere believe this is the year that their team finally makes a run to the College Football Playoff, and ultimately, the National Championship.

Teams ranked inside the top 25 have the best chance to notching at least 10-wins. Yet, some of the Group of Five teams are sure to hit the 10-win mark due to sub-par competition.

There were 26 teams that won at least 10 games in 2016. That number dropped from 29 teams in 2015, but rose from 23 teams in 2014. A lot depends on how crowded it is at the top of Power Five conferences. If one team wins more than 13 games, that leaves less room for teams to essentially cannibalize their own conference. Yet, that would mean that some teams have a better chance to win 10 games or more.

This list compiles 20 teams that have the best chance to win 10 games. It does not mean that these 20 teams finish the season ranked the highest, or they have a real shot at making the Playoff. Strength of schedule plays into a team’s chances of achieving more wins.

Some coaches, like Urban Meyer and Nick Saban, that they always win more than 10 games with their respective programs. However, some coaches like Clemson’s Dabo Swinney and Kansas State’s Bill Snyder have proven they can keep their programs performing at a high level but could face stiff competition in 2017.

With the college football season starting in just a few more days, let’s take a look at the 20 teams guaranteed to get double-digit win totals in 2017.
