Washington did not have a tough non-conference slate last year. The schedule is not tough this year. Browning gets an easy start. Building momentum for his junior year is important. We’ll see how the split of carries goes between Coleman and Gaskin.

Rutgers is a 27.5-point underdog. They lost 48-13 last year. This is the second consecutive time these two teams play in the season opener. The Playoff committee does not gain confidence in Washington from this game.

Playing another good Power Five conference team would be good. Washington had a tough finish against Alabama. Preparing themselves for bigger competition is important. Only Pac-12 competition shows Washington’s true colors.

Browning does not build much for his Heisman campaign. Husky fans do not have to worry about an upset. Washington will look ahead. The Sept. 23 matchup with Colorado is Washington’s first real test.
