The Moutaineers will have to replace their two leading receivers from a season ago. Both Daikiel Shorts and Shelton Gibson have moved on, leaving a void in the West Virginia receiving corps. They leave behind 106 combined receptions, 1,845 receiving yards and 13 touchdowns.
Florida transfer Will Grier takes over at quarterback. All reports out of Mountaineers camp to this point suggest that the WVU offense won’t miss a bit transitioning from the leadership of Skyler Howard.
Grier can get it down the field, but the question of who will emerge from a talented Mountaineers receiving unit still remains. Ka’Run White finished tied for second on the team in touchdowns last year. Jovon Durante hauled in 35 receptions of his own. They’ll both be serviceable, but the upside of Jennings is tremendous.
For one, Jennings has lightning quick feet. In a conference that seems to be trending towards the deep ball there are few that can get distance between themselves and the last level of the defense as quickly as Jennings. In addition to his speed, Jennings has the agility to shake defenders out of their shoes and keep running. Watch this devastating cut-and-go against Baylor.
