Check out the best signs from College GameDay’s first show of the season live from inside Memorial Stadium in Bloomington for Ohio State at Indiana.
College GameDay got things started tonight with their first show of the season and first of two this Labor Day weekend. Lee Corso, Kirk Herbstreit, Rece Davis, Desmond Howard and the rest of the gang are live from Bloomington Indiana for the Big Ten season opener between the No. 2 Ohio State Buckeyes and the Indiana Hoosiers.
This is GameDay’s first time ever broadcasting from Bloomington and Indiana’s first time being featured on the show. However, this is far from the first time the show has been in the state of Indiana. Notre Dame hosted the first ever GameDay on location in November 1993. GameDay broadcasted seven more times from South Bend in the intervening years. The last time was in 2012.
Purdue played host to the show once in 2004 when the Boilermakers were ranked fifth in the country. College GameDay has broadcasted from the Big Ten Championship Game three of the last four years. Now it is Indiana University’s shot.
Their opponent for the evening has been on GameDay more than almost any other team. Ohio State has appeared on the show 37 times and hosted the show 15 times. They only trail Alabama with those numbers. The Crimson Tide hosted the show 16 times and have appeared 39 times. The Buckeyes were featured last year three times including in the College Football Playoff.
Tonight’s show is a little different because they are broadcasting from inside Memorial Stadium instead of somewhere else on campus. Their backdrop was not the traditional sea of fans. However, some fans still brought signs.
