UCLA has plenty of weapons on offense, namely quarterback Josh Rosen. Can Soso Jamabo be one of the best rushers in 2017?

UCLA has a great offense and starting quarterback Josh Rosen is one of the best in the country. If he stays healthy, UCLA could be all set, but the Bruins had trouble competing in the Pac-12 South. Junior running Soso Jamabo is a star in waiting, though.

The x-factor is Jim Mora. UCLA’s head coach is on the hot seat because he did not live up to expectations last year. Rosen’s injuries cost him some success. The Bruins have not contended in the Pac-12 recently, but Texas A&M is an opportunity to prove something.

Week 1’s slate is huge. No. 1 Alabama faces No. 3 Florida State, No. 11 Michigan takes on No. 17 Florida and UCLA facing Texas A&M is another big one — huge programs with even bigger expectations. UCLA could be a dark horse as the rest of the Pac-12 does not expect much.

Jamabo and Rosen form a great duo and wide receiver Darren Andrews adds another formidable weapon. Jamabo could be the best since Paul Perkins and he has a different skill set. Can Mora use him right? That will be answered soon enough.

Texas A&M lost a lot on defense. The most talented defender in Texas A&M history departed as Myles Garrett went No. 1 overall. Texas A&M’s best defensive back is gone as Justin Evans finished up his senior season. The top UCLA running back can take advantage of the departures.

There’s a lot of opportunity for Jamabo. UCLA needs a good run game and Jamabo can be one of the best in the conference. The Pac-12 is known its quarterbacks, though, while Ronald Jones II, Myles Gaskin, Royce Freeman, Ryan Nall, Phillip Lindsay, Bryce Love, and Kalen Ballage are at the top, in terms of running backs.

Jamabo’s production will go up as his role increases massively. He got just 82 carries last year but he’ll get over 100 this year. Texas A&M gets the first taste of him but Hawaii will be the first team to get truly bashed by Jamabo.
