1. Manny Wilkins won the starting job

Arizona State had questions at quarterback entering the season. They had a few good options between redshirt junior Manny Wilkins and sophomore Alabama transfer Blake Barnett. Both should have been able to take care of business against the Aggies.

Barnett was a highly recruited QB that had a chance to make a name for himself with Nick Saban in Tuscaloosa. However, Jalen Hurts ultimately became the quarterback of the future in Alabama’s offense. Limited playing time led Barnett to transfer to Arizona State.

Wilkins performed admirably with more than 300 passing yards and two touchdowns. More importantly, he did not throw a single interception. Barnett completed two passes on three attempts for 21 yards. Both quarterbacks looked good.

The fault in the Arizona State performance was more on the defensive side of the ball. Their quarterbacks look like they can effectively lead the offense. For now, the solution for the Sun Devils is Wilkins.
