West Virginia vs Virginia Tech: 3 bold predictions
2. Will Grier will perform the best of the two quarterbacks
Regardless of outcome, quarterback Will Grier will probably walk away from this game as the better quarterback. The Virginia Tech Hokies will have an inexperienced guy in Josh Jackson running the show, but Grier has proven himself, even if in a somewhat tainted manner.
Grier had the Florida Gators on the way to great things before his 2015 season was derailed by a drug test. He failed it for performance-enhancing drugs and it put a damper on a season where the Gators were 6-0.
Grier had thrown for 1,202 passing yards, 10 passing touchdowns and just three interceptions that year. His 65.6 percent passing completion would have him going places in any other conference.

The biggest thing that stood out was his ability to make plays under pressure and lead his team to victory.
Now, he re-enters the national spotlight in the Big 12 Conference. The Mountaineers are a balanced team that rely on both the pass and the run to essentially run the score up on their opponent.
Grier will attempt to do that here when the Mountaineers take the field Sunday night. Ka’Raun White is easily Grier’s most valuable target. White caught 48 receptions for 583 receiving yards and five receiving touchdowns in 2016.
Behind White, there’s Jovon Durante. Durante caught 35 receptions for 331 receiving yards and and two receiving touchdowns last season.
Grier will look to these guys to extend his college football legacy for a new team in 2017.
