Saturday mornings in the fall mean it’s time for college football and College GameDay. Who is the guest picker for the Week 1 show?

Who better to include on a College GameDay broadcast than someone who has played college football before? The crew will invite country music star, and former college quarterback Sam Hunt to be the guest picker for Week 1 of the 2017 season. Hunt played quarterback at Middle Tennessee and would eventually transfer to UAB. A tribute to the Blazers’ program resurrection aired Saturday morning as well.

Hunt marks a cross-section of College GameDay pickers. It’s not often that somebody plays college football and goes on to have a professional career in music. Last season there were a few notable names from each side of the entertainment spectrum that made appearances.

On the country music side Eric Church made an appearance prior to Week 5. He went an impressive 8-2, correctly picking Clemson to beat Louisville in the game of the day. Not bad, even for a musician.

As for football players, Greg Jennings appeared during the final GameDay show of the season and fared just as well. Jennings was a receiver for the Western Michigan Broncos in his college football days. He matched Church’s 8-2 day. Jennings wasn’t the only football star to appear in 2016. Aaron Rodgers opened the 2016 season as the guest picker, also going 8-2. He’s known now for his tremendous professional career with the Green Bay Packers, but Rodgers wasn’t too shabby in college as the signal caller for Cal.

Will Hunt be able to match those three guys? Or will the added chaos of opening weekend prove difficult for him to navigate successfully? Either way, he should be a fun addition to the crew on Saturday morning.
