2. Malik Zaire is terrible

Everyone loves the back-up quarterback unless they’re even worse than the starter and in this case Malik Zaire is worse. Franks struggled, but Zaire who has legitimate playing experience looked like he had never played college football before.

Zaire threw for 100 yards but added 25 of those once the game was well over. Zaire also fumbled in the end zone to stretch the Michigan lead. Zaire has not been the same player since the fractured ankle in 2015. DeShone Kizer took over and led the Irish and himself to an NFL Draft pick and starting quarterback status for the Browns.

Zaire, a grad transfer, isn’t the answer. He offers Florida a one-year bandaid and he’s more like a piece of gum in the hole if your canoe has sprung a leak. There’s no reason to panic and blame Franks when, as I previously mentioned, he didn’t have his best running back or wide receiver to work with. Give Franks a full strength squad before quitting on him.
