Drew Lock was one of the most productive passers in the SEC in 2016. He tallied 3,399 yards, second most in the conference, narrowly behind Arkansas’ Austin Allen (3,340). The Tiger defense was porous. That lead to a lot of big deficits and a lot of opportunities for Lock to build up those passing stats.
One game into the 2017 season it looks like Lock will be in contention for the most passing yards in the conference. The Tigers hosted Missouri State on Saturday and got into an offensive slugfest with plenty of scoring.
The Tigers and Bears combined for 83 points … in the first half. Drew Lock efficiently distributed the ball. Nine different Missouri players registered at least one reception. At the end of the day it was Lock that took home the accolades, breaking the school record for touchdown passes in a game.

The teams slowed down in the second half, combining for only 32 points after the break. When the final whistle blew the two squads had racked up an astounding 115 combined points on 16 touchdowns (nine passing, seven rushing)
Locke finished with 21-of-34 passing for 521 yards and seven touchdowns. He also through one interception, but that’s more than forgivable in the grand scheme of things. He had several receivers with big days as well.
Jmon Moore and Johnathon Johnson both scored twice. Moore hauled in four catches for 187 yards while Johnson caught five balls for 116 yards.

It’s hard to rush for 200 yards and be overlooked, but that almost happened to Tiger running back Damarea Crockett. He made the most of 18 opportunities, rushing for 202 yards and two touchdowns.
