UCLA Football: 3 reasons the Bruins will defeat Texas A&M
Coming off a 4-8 season, UCLA football need to reverse their luck this year starting with the Bruins’ Week 1 game against the Texas A&M Aggies.
One of the biggest games of the weekend features the UCLA Bruins taking on the Texas A&M Aggies for the second consecutive year. Last season, UCLA fell just short of Texas A&M by a seven-point margin.
This matchup features one team that has an established star quarterback looking to have a fully healthy season. The other team is starting a redshirt freshman.
UCLA’s Josh Rosen is considered among the most talented quarterbacks in the country. He needs to prove that he can stay healthy for just one year. Rosen did not play a full season in either his freshman or sophomore year.
Texas A&M’s Nick Starkel surprisingly won the starting job over true freshman Kellen Mond and former Oklahoma State transfer Jake Hubenak. Starkel was a three-star recruit that Kevin Sumlin seems to have a lot of faith in. Sumlin better hope that Starkel pans out or it could cost him his job.
Outcome could have major ramifications
Both teams are unranked, however a win could propel one squad close to breaking the AP Top 25. UCLA could contend in the PAC-12 South with the USC Trojans as their biggest roadblock. Texas A&M has a tall task in overcoming one of the toughest divisions in the country in the SEC West.
The biggest storyline to follow in this matchup is the head coaching battle. Kevin Sumlin and Jim Mora have two of the hottest seats of all coaches. Mora has not lived up to expectations of UCLA fans in quite a while. Sumlin has seen his program on a steady decline the last few years.
Fans have to wait until Sunday to view this one. Of all Week 1 games featuring two unranked teams, this is one of the must watch matchups. Now, here are three reasons UCLA will defeat Texas A&M.
