UCLA Football: The legend of Josh Rosen lives on in Texas A&M win
UCLA football made an incredible comeback against Texas A&M on Sunday night and it was thanks, in large part, to Josh Rosen.
The hits kept coming early and often for Josh Rosen. He was getting rushed left and right, taking hits from the Texas A&M Aggies’ defense and it looked like Rosen was a defeated man. It was his first start since the middle of last season and he looked rusty.
Not just that, but he wasn’t getting much time to get the ball out and his confidence was shaken. Rosen did what he does best, though, and put the team on his back. Returning to a team that disappointed in 2016 with a 4-8 record, Rosen picked the right time to shine.
Down 44-10 in the second half, the Bruins looked dead in the water. Texas A&M was doing whatever it wanted against UCLA and Rosen couldn’t find the end zone. However, things changed in the blink of an eye.
The Rosen that everyone had raved about all offseason returned to form in the third quarter and the Aggies’ defense paid the ultimate price.
Down 44-24 with under eight minutes left, he hit a receiver for a quick score to pull within 13. He added another touchdown pass to Theo Howard with 3:10 left and really cemented the comeback with this gem:
"SHADES OF DAN MARINO, GAME WINNER. 😱#UCLAvsTAMU https://t.co/4S2Hn2i6l4— Eastbay (@Eastbay) September 4, 2017"
Could anyone really be surprised? Rosen was a sleeping giant and the doubters woke him up in the second half. He looked like a guy who was overhyped and on the verge of hurting his draft stock, but boy, did that ever change.
Rosen finished with 491 yards and four touchdowns on 35-of-58 completions. All four scores came in the second half to cap off a 45-44 win.
