Alabama football received some tough news on Sunday as assistant coach Mike Locksley’s son was murdered.
Fresh off of a physical 24-7 win against No. 3 Florida State, the No. 1 ranked team in the nation, Alabama football, received bad news on Sunday night. Co-offensive coordinator and wide receivers coach Mike Locksley lost his son, Meiko Locksley, to fatal gunshot wounds.
Not much has been released on what happened during Sunday night so we won’t assume either that wouldn’t be fair to the Locksley family because of the magnitude of the situation. The only information we know is it happened Columbia, Md. Mike grew up in Washington D.C. and even recently coached for the University of Maryland, so he still has ties to the area.
Saban says assistant Mike Locksley's son was killed. He had no details, and I have no words. That's just terrible news.

The elder Locksley who is 47 years of age has been coaching for 25 years and is well-respected in the coaching world. Locksley still has three surviving children (Mike Jr., Kai and Kory ) and his wife Kia. It’s never easy to hear about something as tragic as this and it makes you realize there are more important things than football.
I wish him and his family the best during this troubling time, hopefully he and his family will get the answers they need to move on with life to the best of their ability. Keep it posted here for more updates as the story develops.
